Changing Pivot Pins? Get this!! (07/11/2011)

I ordered this Pivot Pin Dentent Depressor specifically to review for my fellow AR-15 builders and enthusiasts. Again, Brownells has another must have tool for AR-15 assembly! This Depressor is very small (about the size of a small Allen key), but makes a HUGE difference.

I was replacing the original pivot pins on my Spike's Tactical "Punisher" Lower receiver with a set of TSD Punisher pins. If it wasnt for this tool, I probably would have lost my dentent and spring....and possibly would not have been able to remove the pivot pin itself.

The tool appears to be well made and works very easily. It simply slides into the body of the front pivot pin and depresses the detent and spring with it's sharp edge. Once depressed, you pull the pin out while being careful to cup your hand over the front of the receiver in case of accidental launch of the dentent and spring. That's it! Now use the Pivot Pin Detent Installation Tool to re-install your new pins!

This tool is a must have in your AR-15 tool arsenal. I would highly recommend and would say it is worth it's weight in gold!
