Good product..(17/07/2010)
I purchased this item not long ago, and I think it's a fine tool. One of my customers requested that I bore a hole in the rear of the receiver so that he may clean his 10/22 barrel from the rear. It works fine, however, you must disassemble the receiver parts to use it. I feel that this would be a valuable item if used on a 10/22 with a match barrel installed, especially a threaded type. A factory barrel can be removed easily for cleaning and would be much eaiser than disassembly of the firearm. I've only used this tool once, however, it's very handy to have when you might need it.
Saves time, ensures a perfect job!(08/02/2014)
No measuring, no error, takes only a few minutes to do a top notch job. Drilling a rear access hole allows cleaning from the breech end, all you have to do is drop the trigger group and pull the bolt. (three pins)
Another reviewer suggested removing the barrel to clean from the breech, not me thanks ... I don't want steel screws threading in and out of an aluminum receiver any more than is necessary, not to mention the return to zero issues you will have with your sights. Besides that would actually take more time, and you will always have easy access to your torque wrench to properly snug the barrel attachment screws right?
Don't forget the drill bit(01/09/2015)
This drill jig works. Got it last week and have used it twice. Don't forget to order a couple "F" (.257) drill bits along with the jig. Mine came with the guide bushing to tight for the F drill to enter let alone run freely. It hones out to size easily using 320 grit wet/dry paper wrapped on an 1/8" drill rod. Tape it in place or catch the paper in the Chuck. Also had to sand the screw threads on the cap screws that go thru the receiver. Didn't want to enlarge the pin holed by forcing them thru. I'd buy it again. It works better than the clearance drilled barrel stub and 5/16 extra long drill I was using.
So easy a caveman can do it!(11/01/2016)
Excellent jig that makes this simple modification quick and fool-proof. The "right tool" for the job and cleaning from the breech with a rod makes me much happier than dinking around with pull-throughs.
