Gives Operator A Major Tactical Advantage With 180 Degrees Of Unrestricted Sling Movement
Ambidextrous Sling Attachment Point helps the operator adapt quickly to changing tactical situations by allowing rapid switching of weapon from one shoulder to the other. Fits both Commercial and Mil-Spec receiver extensions.
SPECS: Steel, Parkerized, matte black. Fits both mil-spec and commercial/universal M4-type receiver extensions.

Revolutionary Sling Adaptor(03/09/2009)
What separates this from any other ambidextrous sling adapters is its ability to be switched from right to left 'on the fly' without disconnecting the sling from the gun. I've been running it for a few months and I couldn't be happier. The only minor negativity I could think of, is the material is very hard, making staking your castle nut require a bit more work. But for something that's only done once in the life of a rifle, its hardly a negative. Every AR I own sports one of these.
OK, but noisy(28/11/2009)
This ok, but I don't like how the ring slides around. Noisy + feels unsecure since in single point mode the rifle wants to flop over/down as the ring doesn't hold position, if that makes sense. There is another Ambi Sling Connector that Brownell's sells that works better, quieter + still allows the transitions from shoulder to shoulder. It works much better than this one, in my opinion.
Easy transitions(09/12/2009)
I used this during the AZ POST rifle instructor school with a Safariland sling. It made strong/weak side transitions very easy. It did not hang up moving into various shooting positions. My only concern would be how well the ring holds up, but after one full week of use it did not show any signs of wear.
Perfect for single point sling runners!(13/12/2009)
180* of movement, allows your weapon to hang centerline, the part is an awsome upgrade.
ASAP Sling Plate(06/01/2010)
I received the Ambidextrous Sling Attachment Point (ASAP) recently. Before mounting the hardware to my rifle I examined it closely, as we all do with new gear. I have been impressed with all of my MAGPUL products thus far, but I still wanted to give it a once over before mating it to the weapon. The construction of the plate is heavy duty. The link rail is welded to the plate with thick welds and appeared to be able to withstand repeated abuse. The plate has a low profile with rounded edges which is appreciated and will save on wear and tear of other equipment and the operator's hands. The link ring has a beefy weld holding it together on the link rail and move freely from side to side without any catches. When mounting the plate to the gun, it is the same with most replacement plates. A simple armor's spanner wrench is all that is needed to mount the plate. Installation was easy and complete in a short amount of time. The thickness of the plate was not a problem with the retractable stock and allowed for the stock to be placed in the fully collapsed position. One of the more attractive attributes to the ASAP is it will work with most single point slings. It is not designed to be used with only MAGPUL products. The range of motion allows for easy transitions and free flowing movement of the weapon. During the testing we used several different slings and all performed better than those with fixed position sling mounts. The cost of the ASAP is another attractive feature. You get full range of motion and the opportunity of right to left transitions, but with a affordable price. Other plates run anywhere from $19.99 up to well above $55.00. However, they offer the fixed position. Some have right and left positions, but the sling must be detached and reattached to the other side. This is where the ASAP exceeds the rest. After running the ASAP for several months, I would highly recommend its employment to anyone with a AR-15 or that style of carbine.
Good item(20/01/2010)
Easy to install, doesn't get hung up on any of my gear. Holds the rifle a little low down, but otherwise great. It is a little noisy when sling is not attached. Good workmanship on this item.
Good for the Price!(14/08/2010)
I've used mine for awhile now and I cannot complain. I've heard some people complain about the noise when the sling is not attached but it's very low and I dont mind at all.
Well built, very functional.(04/10/2010)
I have mounted this items on a few guns now including my own. Works extremely well especially with the Magpul MS2 sling. I have had no complaints from any of my customers nor do I have any myself. Great item.
Good Product(30/10/2010)
Easy to install. Good product. Didn't like the small metal "key"
ONLY FOR M4 Size,Will not fit POF308(12/01/2011)
Im sad that this did not fit my P308 16.5" carbine. Its a Magpul item, tough as nails but wont squeeze on that 308 frame.
Excellent Addition to Tactical Rifles(11/03/2011)
Very popular addition to our house-built AR-15 rifles, and custom option with customers that want a single-point sling attachment point.
Simple to install, can be tricky the first couple times but some plastic tweezers will help set the alignment pin in place without pulling it back out like steel tweezers have a tendency to do.
The only downside is there is a little more rotational play in the receiver extension before the castle nut is secured. Install the actual buttstock to ensure straight alignment, I've put a couple on only to discover the stock was obviously canted off of the centerline.
Another issue is it can be difficult to tighten your castle nut with a wrench that interfaces with 3 notches at once. I use the old CAR-style wrench with the single tooth and have no problems.
Not easy to get on right(22/05/2011)
Buttstock wrenches cant get enough bite to apply right pressure to lock in place and if someone doesnt put key in right you will need a thread file to fix destruction of threads on buttstock tube . Be carefull in what you choose , and ask yourself " do I really need my sling to get caught up on my rifle ? "
Ambi Sling Attachment Point(26/08/2011)
Very easy to install and works great! With this attachment it makes transitioning from one hand to the other without detaching my sling.
Good concept(30/08/2011)
I do like this setup, but it could stand some tweaking. Works very well for transitioning from one side to the other, but it's a bit noisy and not compatible with (surprisingly) some magpul stocks when completely collapsed. Using an ACS stock the sliding ring will only allow the stock to completely collapse when fully off to one side or the other, where it will remain trapped by the front of the stock. If you aren't a stubby little guy like me and normally run the stock extended at least one notch it won't cause you any trouble.
Great Single Point Sling Attachment(07/11/2011)
I ordered this Magpul ASAP Sling Attachment specifically for review for my fellow firearm enthusiasts. I installed this on my custom built Dissipator style rifle.
It was very simple and easy to install and required little or no effort to make it fit correctly against the receiver. The only issue I ran into was tighting the castle nut. The wrench I was using could only grab 3 teeth on the nut, due to how far out the link rail sits. I just carfully tightened the castle nut and that worked fine.
The attachment itself is very heavy duty and it shows. It has very thick weld points preventing the attachment from ever breaking under extreme pressure. The finish is good quality, but a little rough like a fine grit sand paper. The link that the actual sling attaches to is also made heavy duty.
The link is quite noisy when not attached to the sling supporting the weight of the rifle. Other than that, it worked flawlessly and easily moved from side to side. I know others complained of their stocks not closing, but my Magpul MOE stock fully collapsed with no problems.
The one major flaw that I did not like, is that this sling attachment will NOT work with the Magpul's own UBR stock. I know the UBR stock has sling attachments built in, but I wanted the ASAP to be able to move freely from side to side. When I tried to install the buffer tube that was inlcuded with the UBR stock, due to the thickness of the ASAP attachment, it would not screw in far enough to engage the buffer retainer.
I was dissapointed, but just put it on my other AR-15 with the MOE stock. Looks great and works great on there. Overall I would recommend for the tactical shooter....would also work great for hunters.
Good but not perfect(04/05/2012)
Good sling mount EXCEPT the metal to metal fit makes this mount too noisy for my taste. Still, if that's the sort of attachment you want, it's a good choice.
Best of the Best(20/07/2012)
you can not go wrong with this great product.
perfection(24/07/2012)
simple, easy to install, great product that anyone with a single point sling should have.I would go as far to call it perfect.
Strong and useful.(27/08/2012)
Several previous reviewers have touched on the major points. A pair of forceps was very handy when installing the little "key" piece. About the wrench issue: I used Brownell's' 4-point wrench to torque down the castle nut, you just angle it out a little to clear the mount area and no problem. Using Brownell's' lower vise block in a sturdy vise was a big help. The Magpul MMS (Multi-Mission Sling) works great with this ambi-point. With your sling attached there's no more noise than with any other sling mount. If you must be stealthy with no sling I'm sure a piece of black duct tape will take care of it.
Good Design Except For the Key(19/12/2012)
I installed this over the weekend, and I have just one gripe. I spent more time fiddling with the stupid key trying to get it seated in the slot. Hey Magpul, why didn't you design TWO different versions (commercial and military) instead of having us mess around with the stupid key design? I finally got it, but not before about 10 minutes of cursing. God forbid you have to take it apart in the field and lose the key.
Magpul ASAP(06/09/2013)
Awesome piece of great, works great with Magpuls MS3 sling. Installation was a snap, prepared myself for the worst , watched a couple " how to videos " on youtube... had it on less than 15 minutes .
Without the sling attached, the ASAP is little loud.. maybe if the ring was rubber coated ?
Great for Lefties!(26/09/2013)
This works perfectly with the MS3 Multi mission sling. It's a great solution for those of us that shoot an AR-10, 15 or M4 left handed. This is a great product and the only reason that I didn't give it 5 stars is because the attachment ring sounds like a church bell when there is no sling attached to it. It literally screams, "Here I am!". If Magpul could find a way to put a rubberized coating on it to keep it silent, then it would be the perfect sling adapter for me. Right now I have a piece of black paracord tied to the bar holding the ring in a position so it can't make any noise. Great product that needs just one small upgrade. Perfect if noise isn't a factor or stealth isn't paramount.
Steel too hard and brittle(30/11/2014)
Tried to stake it to the castle nut and ended up cracking the sling plate. Metal needs to be little softer
Hard to install(15/03/2015)
Definitely the worst Magpul product I have ever purchased. I couldn't get the "locking nugget" into the end plate. Ended up dropping and losing it. The rest ended up in the garbage and me in search of some blood pressure medicine.
Worth the Mildly Difficult Installation(18/03/2015)
This is a well-made, quality item. The only real issue in installing this part for me is putting it on rifles that have previously-staked factory (Young-Horse brand, in particular) plates; If the staking was done 'firmly', the original plate may be distorted by the staking into an oval shape on the inside, which binds it and does not allow it to slide freely back on the buffer tube once the castle nut is removed (by the proper tool and a couple of whacks with a rubber mallet). This provides no clearance for the detent spring to be removed safely before turning out the tube, thus making it impossible not to shear/kink the spring. Best order a new detent spring to go along with this item.
I did find that a magazine-well fixture block made installation much easier, along with a pair of smooth forceps for the wedge.
I would suggest to MagPul that they make two different plates with integral tangs, one for Military and one for Civilian tubes, and forego the separate wedge in future; It's a fiddly bit, easily lost.
good reciever endplate(25/04/2015)
this is a very good product but I want to mention some things that no one else has. that little key seems to be a challenge for some people. it is not if the gun is held in a vise with a magwell vise adapter. good needle nose pliers are a must also. that said I always use the big key I simply file it until it fits tight. think about it. I have installed a bunch of these. I just put one on a sig 516 I simply cut the tabs off the side and filed the remaining metal flush. it wound up fitting better than the original endplate.im going to include a couple pictures of the sig I just did today. anyone out there reading the negative reviews of this product needs to realize not everyone has the skill level or mindset to do this type of work. sometimes you think outside the box so to speak. magpul products are top of the line and we should be very appreciative of their dedication and commitment to the shooting sports military and second amendment.
great product by MAGPUL! only complaint I have is that it can get a little noisy when moving the firearm around. works great with my Magpul sling.
quality at a cost(08/04/2016)
This is a quality product and a good option. For those in the military be aware of noise discipline, as it is essentially a chain link.
Fair warning when you install this. Where the link hooks on makes it hard to properly seat an armorers wrench to tighten the castle nut holding the buffer tube on. I use the Brownells brand wrench so it is pretty thick, maybe a thinner wrench would have worked better. I was being careless and gouged my buffer tube pretty good. I probably would look for an alternative system knowing what I know now.
Excellent! (05/09/2017)
Solid construction and fairly simple installation. It lets you very smoothly slide your sling from right handed to left handed and is very good at it. The only complaint I would have is that it is a little noisy at times, but that is no draw back for me. I highly recommend this!
